Latania lontaroides, commonly known as the Red Latan Palm, is a striking ornamental palm native to the Mascarene Islands, specifically Réunion. The Red Latan Palm has large, palmate (fan-shaped) leaves that can reach up to 10 feet (3 meters) in length. The leaves are a bluish-green color with a waxy texture, and the petioles (leaf stalks) are bright red, giving the palm its common name.

• Light: The Red Latan Palm thrives in full sun to partial shade. It needs plenty of sunlight to grow well and develop its characteristic red petioles.

• Watering: Water the palm regularly, especially during the growing season. It prefers consistently moist but well-draining soil. Reduce watering in the winter when the plant's growth slows.

• Fertilization: Feed the palm with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer designed for palms in the spring and summer. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates. Avoid over-fertilization, which can damage the roots.
